Drone strikes U.S.-owned gas tanker at Egypt’s Damietta port
Cairo, July 29 (SANA)A drone struck a U.S.-owned gas tanker at Egypt’s Mediterranean port ofDamiettaon Wednesday, maritime security firm Ambrey said, while port services provider Inchcape Shipping Services reported a fire aboard two gas carriers inside the port.
In an initial assessment, Ambrey said the incident targeted a gas tanker but did not provide further details on who was responsible or the extent of the damage, Reuters reported.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions, with continuedIranian attackson several countries in the region, alongside Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, raising growing international concerns over the security of key maritime routes and global energy and trade supply chains.
