Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call with King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that, at the outset of the call, President El-Sisi reaffirmed the special characteristics of the historical relations and deep-rooted bonds between Egypt and Jordan. The President stressed that the security of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is an integral part of Egypt's national security and reiterated Egypt's unequivocal rejection and condemnation of the reprehensible Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and a number of other brotherly countries.

The President reiterated Egypt's full support for all measures taken by the wise Jordanian leadership to safeguard the Kingdom's security and sovereignty and protect the capabilities of its people. President El-Sisi underscored the vital need for concerted regional and international efforts to reach political solutions to the ongoing regional crisis, leading to de-escalation, the restoration of security and stability, and the avoidance of the grave consequences of continued tensions. The President further emphasized Egypt's solidarity with Jordan in confronting all forms of terrorism and extremism.

His Majesty King Abdullah II expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt's steadfast support for Jordan, under the leadership of President El-Sisi, in the face of challenges. His Majesty emphasized the shared history and close relations between the two countries across various fields, as well as the profound ties between their brotherly peoples.  King Abdullah II also commended the President's vision, which is founded on upholding the principles of international law and good neighborliness and advancing a comprehensive and peaceful settlement to the current regional tensions.

The two leaders also discussed developments pertinent to the Palestinian issue. They stressed the need to achieve a just and comprehensive settlement in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and through the implementation of the two-state solution. They also reasserted their firm rejection of the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank and warned against the serious consequences of the actions of extremist right-wing elements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

In this context, President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the historic Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. The President confirmed Egypt's pride in its persistent and institutionalized coordination with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its commitment to further strengthening this coordination in order to address the current shared challenges.
