Riyadh, July 29 (SANA)Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-GeneralJassem Mohamed Albudaiwion Wednesday condemned what he described as terrorist attacks carried out by Iran-backed militias in Iraq against Saudi Arabia, reaffirming the GCC member states’ full solidarity with the Kingdom.In a statement, Albudaiwi said the attacks represent a dangerous escalation, a flagrant violation ofSaudi Arabia’s sovereignty, and a direct threat to the Kingdom’s security and stability, as well as to regional peace and security.He reiterated that theGCC member states stand united alongside Saudi Arabia and fully support all measures it takes to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.Albudaiwi added that the continuation of such attacks undermines international efforts aimed at de-escalation and strengthening regional security and stability. He called for a firm stance to halt what he described as acts that threaten the security and stability of the region.On Tuesday,Saudi air defensesintercepted and destroyed several drones launched from Iraqi territory that attempted to target oil facilities in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province.
