Syria, Egypt discuss housing, urban development cooperation

Damascus, July 28 (SANA)Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdel Razzaq met on Tuesday with Egyptian Chargé d’Affaires in Damascus Mohamed el-Feki to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in housing, urban development andinvestment.

Abdel Razzaq expressed appreciation for Egypt’s hosting of Syrians during the past years, stressing the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries and the importance of transferring technical and administrative expertise and benefiting from Egypt’s successful experience in implementing urban projects and developing cities, according to the ministry statement on Telegram.

The minister outlined the ministry’s priorities for the coming period, including providing housing, advancing urban development, and preparing a suitable environment for launchingreconstructionprojects, noting that the Syrian government places encouraging investment at the top of its priorities.

The minister noted that the government has offered a package of incentives for investors across various sectors and continues to work on removing obstacles and simplifying procedures to enhance the investment environment and attract capital.

Egyptian expertise in urban development

El-Feki said the housing sector is one of the most prominent areas of cooperation between Syria and Egypt, reviewing his country’s expertise in establishing new cities, developing informal settlements, and implementing road andinfrastructureprojects.

He noted that there is close coordination between institutions in both countries and expressed his country’s readiness to enhance this cooperation in the future.

Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination and benefiting from Egyptian expertise in housing, infrastructure project management andurban development.

Egypt has extensive experience in large-scale urban development, having constructed dozens of new cities and megaprojects. Earlier Tuesday, Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani met with el-Feki to discuss ways to enhance communication and coordination to serve the interests of both countries.
