Holding a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister al-Zaidi, President Erdoğan said: “We endeavor in order for our region to be associated with development, prosperity, tranquility and stability from now on, not with wars, terror or conflicts. We are in close contact with our Iraqi brothers and sisters in order for our terror-free Türkiye process and for our vision of a terror-free region to come true.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi of Iraq, who is paying an official visit to Türkiye, held a joint press conference following their bilateral meeting at the Presidential Complex.

President Erdoğan said: “We have exchanged our views on regional developments, Iran, Syria and Palestine in particular. We have just signed in front you the documents that will enhance our relations. Due to the environment of war in our vicinity, security, anti-terror fight, energy and transportation have been high on our agenda. Our neighbor Iraq is unfortunately one of the countries that have been affected the most by this environment of war and instability. We never have and never will see the tranquility and stability of Iraq different than ours. We endeavor in order for our region to be associated with development, prosperity, tranquility and stability from now on, not with wars, terror or conflicts. We are in close contact with our Iraqi brothers and sisters in order for our terror-free Türkiye process and for our vision of a terror-free region to come true. We will inshallah permanently remove this issue, which has made both countries pay high prices, from our agenda. In the meantime, we stand ready to do what falls to us in terms of the supply of the defense industry products Iraq needs.”
