எந்தவொரு நபரின் கொடுப்பனவுகளையும் நிறுத்துவதற்கோ அல்லது குறைப்பதற்கோ எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை என்பதுடன், திறைசேரிக்குக் கிடைக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு ரூபாவும் நாட்டின் அபிவிருத்தி மற்றும் முன்னேற்றத்திற்காகவே பயன்படுத்தப்படும் என்ற எதிர்பார்ப்புடன், எதிர்கால சந்ததியினர் கடன் செலுத்த வேண்டிய அவசியமற்ற, நிதி ஒழுக்கத்தைக் கொண்ட நாட்டை உருவாக்குவதற்கு அனைவரும் தமது பொறுப்பை நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டும் என்றும் வலியுறுத்தினேன். சர்வதேச அறிக்கைகளில் இலங்கைப் பொருளாதாரத்தின் முன்னேற்றம் மற்றும் சமூகக் குறியீடுகளின் மதிப்பீடுகள் சிறந்த மட்டத்தில் காணப்படுவதாகவும், ஒரு காலத்தில் கடன் செலுத்த முடியாமல், ஊழல் மற்றும் சமூகக் குற்றங்கள் நிறைந்த நாடாக சர்வதேசத்தால் பேசப்பட்ட நமது நாடு, இன்று சிறந்த பொருளாதாரத்தைக் கொண்டதாகவும் ஊழல் குறைந்த நாடாகவும் சர்வதேசத்தின் பாராட்டைப் பெற்றுள்ளதாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டேன். சர்வதேச ரீதியில் நல்லதொரு பிம்பத்தைப் பேணிப் பாதுகாத்து, அனைத்து மக்களும் சட்டத்திற்கு உட்பட்ட மற்றும் சிறந்த பொருளாதாரத்தைக் கொண்ட நாட்டை உருவாக்குவதே அரசாங்கத்தின் எதிர்பார்ப்பாகும் என்பதையும் இதன்போது மேலும் வலியுறுத்தினேன். Participated in the Galle District Special Coordination Committee Meeting held this afternoon (28) at the Galle District Secretariat. During the meeting, a comprehensive review was conducted on the progress of development projects implemented by the Galle District Secretariat under the 2026 Budget allocations, including key initiatives such as the Prajashakthi programme, as well as the district’s development priorities and financial requirements for 2027. Special attention was also given to the progress of implementing the Galle City Development Plan. Discussions were held on the proposed relocation of 16 government institutions, including the Galle Police Station and the Post Office, to Mahamodara, as well as discussed the reconsideration of the decision to temporarily operate the Mahamodara Prison. The meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing projects aimed at addressing the district’s major drinking water challenges. Emphasis was placed on the need for all relevant institutions to work together in a coordinated manner to dismantle drug networks operating within the district. During the meeting, highlighted that the Government plans to allocate Rs. 2 trillion for capital expenditure in the coming year, which is nearly three times higher than the allocation made in 2024. Also noted that allocating a larger share of public funds towards maintaining government operations alone cannot be justified from the perspective of the people. Therefore, economic targets have been established with the objective of reducing recurrent expenditure, currently at around 9%, while increasing capital expenditure, which stands at approximately 4%, to accelerate national development. Further emphasised that the Government has no intention of reducing or cutting benefits provided to citizens. Instead, the aim is to ensure that every rupee received by the Treasury is utilised effectively for the country’s development and progress. Also stressed that all stakeholders must fulfil their responsibilities in building a financially disciplined nation where future generations are not burdened with unsustainable debt. Also noted that international assessments of Sri Lanka’s economic recovery and social indicators have shown positive progress. A country that was once internationally recognised as being unable to meet its debt obligations and facing challenges related to corruption and social issues is now gaining recognition for economic improvement and stronger governance standards. Maintaining Sri Lanka’s positive international image while building a country where all citizens are subject to the rule of law and where a strong, sustainable economy is established remains a key priority of the Government.
