Aleppo, July 28 (SANA)Health authorities in Syria’sAleppoprovince launched ameaslesvaccination campaignon Monday targeting children aged between 6 months and 5 years after cases of the disease were detected in the region.

The campaign is being carried out through fixed health centers, mobile vaccination teams and temporary vaccination sites in Aleppo city and surrounding rural areas, aiming to curb the spread of the virus and strengthen community immunity.

Hussam Othman, head of the Al-Bab Health District, said the campaign covers all children within the target age group regardless of their previous vaccination status.

He said 56 medical teams have been deployed across neighborhoods, towns and villages, while local authorities, community leaders and village chiefs have taken part in awareness sessions encouraging parents to have their children vaccinated.

Ghadir Hilali, head of the Child Health and Immunization Program at the Aleppo Health Directorate, said the vaccines being used are safe, free and effective, adding that they are available at health centers and mobile vaccination units.

She urged parents to bring eligible children to designated vaccination sites to help protect them against the disease.

The launch of the campaign coincided with a field visit by officials from the Aleppo Health Directorate alongside representatives of theWorld Health Organization(WHO) and the U.N. children’s agency UNICEF to monitor vaccination activities and review health services at vaccination centers and temporary sites.
