Damascus, July 28 (SANA)A senior Syrian Foreign Ministry official met with Czech Deputy Industry Minister Jan Sechter on Tuesday to discuss expanding economic and industrial cooperation betweenSyriaand theCzechRepublic, Syria’s Foreign Ministry said.

Qutaiba Qadish, director of the ministry’s International Cooperation Department, held talks with Sechter on ways to strengthen bilateral economic and industrial relations, according to the ministry.

The meeting comes amid a gradual expansion of diplomatic engagement between Damascus and Prague.

In March 2026, Czech Ambassador Vítězslav Pivoňka presented copies of his credentials to Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani after the Czech Republic appointed an ambassador to Damascus.

The two countries also signed acooperation agreementin Prague in February 2026 between Syria’s Diplomatic Institute and the Czech Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy. The agreement aims to deepen academic and diplomatic cooperation and facilitate exchanges in diplomatic education and training.
