Syrian soldier martyred while dismantling war remnants east of Aleppo
Aleppo, July 27 (SANA)ASyrian Arab Armysoldier was martyred on Monday while carrying out his duty east of Aleppo, the Defense Ministry’s Media and Communications Directorate told SANA.
The soldier was martyred while dismantling war remnants near Tishreen Dam, east of Aleppo, the directorate said.
Since the fall of the ousted regime in December 2024, at least 345 civilian deaths, including 89 children and 21 women, have been documented as a result of landmine explosions and cluster munition remnants, according to theSyrian Network for Human Rights(SNHR).
Mine clearance operations have been ongoing across the country, with army engineering units working to clear residential areas, agricultural land and infrastructure to enable the safe return of displaced families and support reconstruction efforts. The UN has warned that millions oflandminesand unexploded ordnance remain a “deadly legacy” across Syria.
