Doha, July 27 (SANA)Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held a phone call on Monday with Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly to discussregional developmentsand diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region, Qatar News Agency reported.

The Qatari minister stressed the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy and to implement what was agreed upon in the memorandum of understanding between theUnited Statesand Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in theStrait of Hormuz, to preserve regional security and enhance stability, according to the agency.

Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for all efforts aimed at defusing tensions and reaching a comprehensive agreement that achieves lasting peace in the region.

The talks are part of an ongoing diplomatic push in the region to support international efforts aimed at avoiding further escalation between the United States andIranand advancing political solutions.

Qatar has repeatedly affirmed its full support for mediation efforts to resolve the crisis in the region through peaceful means. Canada has been actively engaged in regional diplomacy, with Foreign Minister Joly previously expressing support for de-escalation efforts and dialogue between the parties.
