Syria, Germany begin academic partnership on engineering and university development
Damascus, July 27 (SANA)Syrian and German authorities have launched a scientific cooperation initiative connecting Germany’s Technical University of Darmstadt with six universities in Syria, the SyrianMinistry of Higher Education and Scientific Researchsaid Monday.
The project includes universities in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Idlib and Latakia, along with the Syrian Virtual University.
The ministry said the initiative is intended to improve higher education curricula, encourage the exchange of academic expertise and lay the foundation for long-term institutional cooperation.
The program will focus on civil engineering and geomatics, including surveying, remote sensing, digital mapping and geospatial information systems. The ministry said these disciplines are important for reconstruction, digital transformation, urban planning and disaster management.
Higher Education MinisterMarwan al-Halabisaid the partnership would support capacity-building and provide broader academic and research opportunities for Syrian universities and students.
