Damascus, July 27 (SANA)Syria’s Drug Enforcement Department said it foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotics fromLebanonduring a security operation in al-Nabk area of Damascus countryside.

The department said the operation resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of 850,000narcotic pills.

The Authorities said investigations into the case are underway and that legal measures are being taken against those involved.

On July 20th,the Drug Enforcement department seized nearly half a ton ofhashishafter foiling an international drug-smuggling attempt in the southeastern countryside of Sweida province.
