Syria’s GABC begins infrastructure development at al-Salameh crossing with Türkiye

Aleppo, July 27 (SANA)Technical teams from Syria’sGeneral Authority for Borders and Customs(GABC), in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, have begun construction andrehabilitation workat the al-Salameh border crossing with Türkiye, the authority said.

The work is part of an integrated project to upgrade the crossing’s infrastructure and boost its operational readiness, through new structural and service installations and improved movement pathways inside the crossing, in order to raise efficiency, enhance services for passengers and cargo, and ensure an operating environment that meets modern standards, according to an authority statement.

The project is part of the authority’s plan to rehabilitate and develop border crossings and strengthen their capacity to accommodate growing trade and transit movement, improving procedural efficiency, accelerating passenger and cargo flow, and raising service standards.

Al-Salameh (Öncüpınar) crossing, is one of the main border crossings between Syria and Türkiye, located in Aleppo province, and serves as a vital gateway for trade, passenger movement and humanitarian aid.

The development comes amid growing economic ties between Syria and Türkiye following the fall of the deposed regime, with both sides seeking to boost trade and facilitate cross-border movement.
