Dollar retreats as markets react to Trump order halting new strikes on Iran
London, July 27 (SANA)TheU.S. dollarweakened against majorcurrenciesat the start of Asian trading on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military not to carry out any new strikes on Iran.
According to Reuters, the dollar fell 0.2 percent against the Japanese yen to 163.585 yen, marking its steepest decline since July 10.
The euro gained 0.2 percent to $1.1397, while the British pound rose by the same margin to $1.3353. The New Zealand dollar climbed 0.3 percent to $0.5802, and the Australian dollar advanced 0.2 percent to $0.6997.
The U.S. Dollar Index, which measures the currency’s performance against a basket of six major currencies, declined 0.25 percent to 101.23.In cryptocurrency markets, Bitcoin rose 0.9 percent to $65,193.62, while Ether gained 1.9 percent to $1,948.
The market moves came as investors awaited a series of central bank meetings scheduled for this week, particularly the meeting of the U.S. Federal Reserve, which is expected to provide guidance on monetary policy and interest rates.
