Riyadh, July 26 (SANA)Saudi Defense Minister PrinceKhalid bin Salman Al Saudheld a phone call on Saturday with his Turkish counterpart,Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, to discuss ways to strengthen military and defense cooperation, as well as the latest regional and international developments and efforts to promote peace, security and stability across the region.

According to a statement posted by the Saudi Ministry of Defense on the X platform, the two ministers reviewed avenues for enhancing bilateral military and defense cooperation. They exchanged views on joint efforts aimed at promoting peace in the region amid current developments and discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The call reflects ongoing coordination betweenSaudi ArabiaandTurkeyon regional and international developments and their shared interest in expanding bilateral relations, particularly in the military and defense fields, while supporting efforts to reinforce regional security and stability.

The discussions came against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions following recent developments related to the U.S.-Israeli confrontation withIran, renewed exchanges between Washington and Tehran, and continued threats by the Houthi militia in Yemen to maritime navigation through the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
