Amman, July 26 (SANA)Syria’s U-17girls’ national football teamwon the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U-17 Girls’ Championship on Sunday after beating Lebanon 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the final in Amman.

Syria came from two goals down at halftime to level the score in the second half before prevailing in the shootout to secure the regional title.

Syrian forward Masa Mina finished as the tournament’s top scorer, while goalkeeper Media Hussein was named Best Goalkeeper. Lebanon’s Yara Jaaitani received the Best Player award.

Syria reached the final after topping its group with a perfect record and defeating Palestine 6-5 on penalties in the semifinals following a goalless draw. Lebanon advanced by beating hosts Jordan 5-0.

Syria had also defeated Lebanon 1-0 during the group stage.
