Syrian Civil Defense reports 35 dead, 46 injured in accidents and fires across Syria

Damascus, Syria, July 26 (SANA)Thirty-five people were killed and 46 others injured in road accidents and fires across Syria during the past 24 hours, theSyrian Civil Defense, operating under theMinistry of Emergency and Disaster Management, said on Sunday.

In a statement posted on its official Telegram channel, the Civil Defense said its teams responded to 25 road accidents, which resulted in 35 fatalities and 45 injuries. First aid was provided at the scene before the injured were transferred to hospitals for treatment. Rescue teams also secured the affected sites and cleared the roads.

The Civil Defense urged motorists to reduce speed, ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition, including brakes and windshield wipers, and avoid distractions while driving, particularly the use of mobile phones.

Separately, Civil Defense teams responded to 129 fires in homes, commercial premises, vegetation, trees, waste sites and electrical wiring. The fires injured one person, who received first aid at the scene, and caused material damage. Firefighters extinguished the blazes and carried out cooling operations to prevent them from reigniting.

The agency also urged the public not to light fires in forests or agricultural areas, avoid discarding cigarette butts and glass bottles along roadsides, particularly near forests and cultivated land, refrain from burning dry vegetation around homes or on road shoulders, and remove such vegetation using safe methods to reduce the risk of wildfires.

The Civil Defense noted that on Friday, its teams responded to 142 incidents, including fires and road accidents across Syrian governorates, resulting in three deaths and eight injuries.
