Saudi Arabia, Pakistan discuss security of Gulf and Red Sea shipping lanes

Riyadh, July 25 (SANA)Saudi Foreign MinisterPrinceFaisal bin FarhanandPakistan’s Deputy Prime Ministerand Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar discussed efforts to ensure the security of shipping lanes in the Gulf and the Red Sea during a phone call on Saturday.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two ministers reviewed regional developments and stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation, as well as efforts to reduce tensions, contain escalation, and safeguard the security of maritime routes in the Gulf and the Red Sea.

They also underscored the need to reach peaceful and comprehensive solutions that would strengthen regional and international peace and stability.

Regional tensions have escalated in recent weeks amid theU.S.-Israel-Iran war, renewed exchanges of strikes between Washington and Tehran, and continued threats by Yemen’s Houthi militia to international shipping in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
