Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Affirms Efforts to Reconstitute and Revitalize the Supreme Council for Women with a New Vision ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi attended, this morning, Saturday, the 18th Islamic Day to Combat Violence Against Women Conference, organized by the National Wisdom Movement in Baghdad. In his remarks, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi paid tribute to the late Sayyid Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim, who launched the initiative, and expressed his appreciation to the Head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, and the conference organizers for sustaining this annual event. The Prime Minister announced that the government is moving forward with reconstituting and revitalizing the Supreme Council for Women through a new vision that will achieve its intended objectives and enable it to serve as the legal and executive umbrella for all efforts aimed at advancing the status of Iraqi women. The following are the key points from the Prime Minister’s remarks: 🔵 Women have received care and recognition within our Government Program, reflecting our belief in their vital role in comprehensive development. 🔵 Iraqi women contributed to confronting the challenges and hardships endured by all Iraqis as they fought the ISIS terrorist gangs, which committed horrific acts of violence against Iraqi women. 🔵 These challenges serve as a catalyst for providing a safe environment that prevents violence against women and the diminishing of their status through deterrent measures and legislation. 🔵 The most important element in safeguarding women’s rights is to develop their scientific and intellectual capacities and enable them to assume leadership positions. 🔵 Today, we take pride in the presence of women across all constitutional branches of the state. 🔵 Women must be protected from abuse and blackmail by fostering a culture of respect for women and by not allowing their rights to be violated.
