Damascus July 25 (SANA)Minister of Emergency and Disasters Management,Raed al-Saleh, said that the escalating forest fires across the Mediterranean basin underscore the severe challenges of drought andclimate change.

Al-Saleh on Saturday offered his condolences to the victims’ families in Algeria, Tunisia, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Türkiye.

In a post on X, the Minister emphasized that enhancing regional cooperation and preparedness is now an urgent necessity.

He highly praised the exceptional efforts and sacrifices of firefighting teams, noting that field operations highlight the immense challenges they face in controlling such blazes.

Surging temperatures have fueled large-scalefiresacross the region causing tragic losses in lives, property and vegetation, as firefighters continue their relentless efforts to contain the dilemma.
