Damascus, July 25 ( SANA)UN Secretary-GeneralAntónio Guterresaffirmed theUnited Nations‘ solidarity with Syria, calling on the international community to spare no effort in supporting the Syrian people.

In a post on his “X” account following his arrival in Damascus on Saturday, Guterres stated: “I have just arrived in Damascus on a visit of solidarity, emphasizing that the UN stands with Syria at this pivotal moment.

He added “I urge the international community to spare no effort in supporting theSyrian people.”

Guterres and an accompanying delegation arrived at Damascus International Airport this morning, as they were received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani.

The trip marks a historic visit to Syria as the first by a UN Secretary-General since 2009.
