Jordanian Minister: We seek to boost our position as a hub for investments with Syria
Amman, July 25 (SANA)– Jordan’s Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh affirmed that the government is working to strengthenJordan’s position as a regional hub for investments heading toSyria, leveraging the strength of its banking sector, the development ofJaber Border Crossing, and the growing volume of trade and freight transportation.
Jordanian News Agency, Petra, quoted Abu Ghazaleh as saying in a television interview on the sidelines of the Jordanian-British Business Forum in London: “The security stability that Jordan enjoys, along with the economic opportunities in the region, particularly in Syria, which Jordan seeks to be a hub forinvestmentsdirected towards, enhances the Kingdom’s attractiveness to investors.”
Abu Ghazaleh noted that foreign direct investment inflows into Jordan increased by 25% last year, marking the highest growth rate since 2017. He attributed this to the Kingdom’s continued success in attracting new companies, leading to sustained growth in the number of businesses operating in the country.
He also affirmed that the government is implementing the objectives of theEconomic Modernization Vision,adding that economic growth has risen from 2.7% to 3% as a result of government reforms, improvements to the business environment, legislative development, and continued support for both local and foreign investors.
Earlier, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates,Ayman Safadi, stated on July 8 that the restoration of Syria’s stability and regional role would pave the way for regional connectivity projects linking the Gulf states,Jordan, Syria, and Türkiye, extending onward to the countries of Central Asia.
