Capitals, July 24 (SANA)Britain, Germany and Algeria on Thursday condemned an attack by Yemen’s Houthi militia on aSaudicommercial vessel in theRed Sea, warning that the assault threatened regional stability and maritime security.

In a statement posted on X,Britain‘s Foreign Office described the attack as a “reckless” act that endangered lives, risked an environmental disaster and violated international law. It expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and called on the Houthis to halt attacks on commercial shipping.

German Defense MinisterBoris Pistoriusvoiced deep concern over the targeting of the Saudi vessel, warning that the situation was moving in the wrong direction and that the risk of further escalation in the region was increasing, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.

Algeriaalso condemned the attack, calling it a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to regional security and stability.

In a statement carried by the Algerian Press Service (APS), the Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Algeria’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and called for an immediate end to attacks that endanger international trade and disrupt the flow of global energy supplies.

The ministry also urged all parties to de-escalate tensions and avoid actions that could further destabilize the Middle East.

Earlier on Thursday, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Transport said the commercial vesselENCELIA, operated by a Saudi company, had come under direct attack, causing a fire to break out in its bow. The authority said all crew members were safe and that no injuries had been reported.
