SNS supervisa Hospital José Joaquín Puello y garantiza capacidad de respuesta para los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe 2026
Santo Domingo.- Before the start of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio Landrón, led a supervision tour of the Dr. José Joaquín Puello General Teaching Hospital, where he assured that the Public Health Services Network is prepared to respond in a timely manner to any eventuality that may arise with athletes, delegations or visitors during the sporting event.
Accompanied by the center's management team, Landrón toured the Emergency, Tomography, Sonography and other strategic services areas to verify operational capacity, availability of equipment, supplies and health personnel.
During the tour, the head of the SNS reiterated that the public health system has the necessary resources to guarantee efficient and humanized care during the celebration of the games.
"We are ready to face any eventuality that may arise with the athletes, delegations or visitors who will be in the country. Our commitment is to offer a quick response, with quality and humanization, to guarantee the health of everyone during this important international event," he expressed.
Likewise, he instructed the hospital authorities to keep critical areas supplied and immediately request any additional supplies or equipment that may be necessary.
"The equipment is new and the supplies that are needed must be requested immediately. Nothing can be missing in critical areas; our commitment is to guarantee that the hospital has everything necessary to respond to any emergency," he emphasized.
The director of the SNS highlighted that, in parallel, the institution continues to strengthen the response capacity of the Public Network with the expansion of hospital and intensive care beds, especially in Greater Santo Domingo, as well as with the strengthening of specialized human resources.
The supervision is part of the preparation plan implemented by the National Health Service to ensure that the hospitals of the Public Network are in optimal conditions and can provide efficient medical assistance during the development of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
Supervises future Mental Health area
As part of the day, Dr. Landrón also inspected the future Mental Health area of the José Joaquín Puello Hospital, where he evaluated the pending adaptations and the equipment required for its implementation, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen the portfolio of services offered by the health center.

Nuestro compromiso es ofrecer una respuesta rápida, con calidad y humanización, para garantizar la salud de todos durante este importante evento internacional”,expresó. Asimismo, instruyó a las autoridades del hospital amantener abastecidas las áreas críticasy solicitar de inmediato cualquier insumo o equipo adicional que sea necesario. “Los equipos son nuevos y los insumos que hagan falta deben solicitarse de inmediato. No puede faltar nada en las áreas críticas; nuestro compromiso es garantizar que el hospital cuente con todo lo necesario para responder a cualquier emergencia”,enfatizó. El director del SNS destacó que, de manera paralela, la institución continúa fortaleciendo lacapacidad de respuesta de la Red Públicacon la ampliación de camas hospitalarias y de cuidados intensivos, especialmente en elGran Santo Domingo, así como con el fortalecimiento delrecurso humano especializado. La supervisión forma parte delplan de preparaciónimplementado por el Servicio Nacional de Salud para asegurar que los hospitales de la Red Pública estén en óptimas condiciones y puedan brindarasistencia médica eficientedurante el desarrollo de los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe Santo Domingo 2026. Supervisa futura área de Salud Mental Como parte de la jornada, el doctor Landrón también inspeccionó la futura área deSalud Mental del Hospital José Joaquín Puello, donde evaluó las adecuaciones pendientes y los equipos requeridos para su puesta en funcionamiento, con el propósito de continuarfortaleciendo la cartera de serviciosque ofrece el centro de salud.
