Beijing, July 24 (SANA)China plans to establish an international alliance to combat telecommunications and online fraud, bringing together law enforcement agencies worldwide to strengthen cooperation against cross-border cyber-enabled crimes, the Ministry of Public Security said on Friday. The alliance is expected to be formally launched during theGlobal Public Security CooperationForum 2026, scheduled to take place in September in the eastern Chinese city of Lianyungang, according to state news agency Xinhua.Jiang Guoli, head of the ministry’s criminal investigation bureau, said the organization would serve as an intergovernmental platform aimed at improving coordination among law enforcement agencies, enhancing intelligence sharing and supporting joint operations against fraud networks.More than 40 countries have expressed interest in joining the initiative, Jiang said, adding that telecom and online fraud had become a global security challenge requiring closer international cooperation. He said most fraud operations targeting China originate from overseas, and Chinese police would make combating such crimes a priority over the next five years. The move comes as governments worldwide seek to strengthen cooperation against increasingly sophisticated online scams involving cross-border networks, digital platforms and emerging technologies.Separately,Chinese President Xi Jinpingannounced on July 17 the establishment ofthe World Organization for Artificial Intelligence Cooperation, aimed at promoting international collaboration on the development and governance of artificial intelligence.
