Inefi inicia construcción de techado para dignificar el deporte escolar en la Escuela República de Chile
Santo Domingo.- With the aim of strengthening and dignifying school sports, the National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi) began this Wednesday the construction of a modern roof at the República de Chile School, in the San Carlos sector, in the National District.
The event was headed by the executive director of Inefi, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, who, prior to giving the first shot, reported that said work reflects the commitment that President Luis Abinader has to the dignity of the country's educational and sports spaces.
Rodríguez Mella maintained that this project not only responds to an infrastructure need, but also represents a direct investment in the comprehensive development of our youth, by offering a favorable environment for the practice of sports, physical activity and healthy coexistence.
He recalled that during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, “when we met in clubs and fields, what people asked President Abinader for was a roof so as not to practice in the rain or the sun.”
He stressed that the roof will not only be for sporting events, community activities such as weddings, birthdays, delivery of grades, the faculty, neighborhood association meetings, among other gatherings, will also be possible.
“We aspire for this space to become a meeting point to strengthen the values, discipline and sense of community that our educational system needs so much,” said the Inefi incumbent.
He expressed confidence that the roof will be delivered before the start of the next school year, “thanks to God, the good weather and the strength of the workers and engineers who will work on it.”
For his part, the director of the educational facility, Professor Manuel de los Santos, was very pleased and grateful that the government of President Luis Abinader, through Inefi, has taken the initiative to build the sports center, which “has been highly anticipated by our students and community members.”
De los Santos confirmed what Rodríguez Mella said by reporting that the roof will not only be for playing basketball, volleyball, table tennis and chess, but also so that the residents of the sector, under the supervision and consent of the directors of that educational center, can carry out various types of community activities.
Alberto Rodríguez Mella was accompanied by the deputy director general of Inefi, Elvis Duarte; the administrative and financial advisor, César Ruiz; the director of the Inefi cabinet, Cristian Hernández, and the president of the Council of Aldermen, Giancarlo Vega.
There were also the 15th regional director of Education, Eddy Chávez; the spokesperson of the National Police, Diego Pesqueira; the president of the Fe y Alegría Foundation, Amauri Félix, and the councilor of Constituency 1, Juan López, among others.
During the management of Alberto Rodríguez Mella, at Inefi, at least 6 sports centers and sports roofs have been built and delivered in different regions of the country, in addition to renovating more than 31 school fields and maintaining other projects in the process of execution. Some examples are the following:
Elías Piña: First roof delivered in the southern region.
San Juan de la Maguana: School roofing recently delivered in the province.
National District (Barrio Capotillo): Covered court and sports facility completed.
Monte Plata (Bayaguana, Yamasá): Includes the sports center at the General Eusebio Manzueta Polytechnic.
Santiago and San Pedro de Macorís: Units delivered within the school infrastructure plan.
Santo Domingo Norte, Santo Domingo: Additional works in vulnerable areas.

Santo Domingo.- Con el objetivo de fortalecer y dignificar el deporte escolar, el Instituto Nacional de Educación Física(Inefi)inició este miércoles la construcción de unmoderno techado en la Escuela República de Chile,del sector San Carlos, en el Distrito Nacional. El acto estuvo encabezado por el director ejecutivo del Inefi,Alberto Rodríguez Mella, quien, previo a dar el primer picazo, informó que dicha obra refleja elcompromiso que tiene el presidente Luis Abinadercon ladignificación de los espacios educativos y deportivosdel país. Rodríguez Mella sostuvo que este proyecto no sólo responde a una necesidad de infraestructura, sino que representa unainversión directa en el desarrollo integral de nuestra juventud, al ofrecer un entorno propicio para lapráctica del deporte, la actividad física y la sana convivencia. Recordó que en tiempo de la pandemia del COVID-19),“cuando nos reuníamos en clubes y canchas, la gente lo que le pedía al presidente Abinader era un techado para así no practicar bajo la lluvia o el sol”. Destacó que el techadono sólo será para eventos deportivos, también se podrán realizaractividades comunitariascomo bodas, cumpleaños, entrega de notas, el claustro de profesores, reuniones de juntas de vecinos, entre otros encuentros. “Aspiramos a que este espacio se convierta en un punto de encuentro para fortalecer los valores, la disciplina y el sentido de comunidad que tanto necesita nuestro sistema educativo”,manifestó el incumbente del Inefi. Se mostró confiado en que el techado seráentregado antes de iniciarse el próximo año escolar,“gracias a Dios, al buen clima y a las fuerzas de los obreros e ingenieros que trabajarán en la misma”. De su lado, el director del plantel educativo, profesorManuel de los Santos, se mostró muycomplacido y agradecidode que el gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader, a través del Inefi, haya tomado la iniciativa de construir el polideportivo, el cual“ha sido muy esperado por nuestros estudiantes y comunitarios”. De los Santos ratificó lo dicho por Rodríguez Mella al informar que el techadono sólo será para jugar baloncesto, voleibol, tenis de mesa y ajedrez, sino también para que los vecinos del sector, bajo la supervisión y anuencia de los directivos de ese centro educativo, puedan efectuardiversos tipos de actividades comunitarias. Alberto Rodríguez Mella estuvo acompañado por el subdirector general del Inefi,Elvis Duarte; el asesor administrativo y financiero,César Ruiz; el director de gabinete del Inefi,Cristian Hernández, y el presidente del Consejo de Regidores,Giancarlo Vega. También estuvieron el director regional 15 de Educación,Eddy Chávez; el vocero de la Policía Nacional,Diego Pesqueira; el presidente de la Fundación Fe y Alegría,Amauri Félix, y el regidor de la Circunscripción 1,Juan López, entre otros. Durante la gestión de Alberto Rodríguez Mella, en el Inefi,se han construido y entregado al menos 6 polideportivos y techados deportivosen distintas regiones del país, además de remozarmás de 31 canchas escolaresy mantener otros proyectos en proceso de ejecución. Algunos ejemplos son los siguientes: Elías Piña: Primer techado entregado en la región sur. San Juan de la Maguana: Techado escolar entregado recientemente en la provincia. Distrito Nacional(Barrio Capotillo): Cancha techada e instalación deportiva completada. Monte Plata(Bayaguana, Yamasá): Incluye el polideportivo en el Politécnico General Eusebio Manzueta.
