IDAC advierte sobre uso de drones no autorizados en instalaciones de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe
Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) alerted citizens about the prohibition of the unauthorized use of drones in the vicinity of the sports facilities where the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 are taking place, with the purpose of guaranteeing the safety of athletes, delegations, spectators and air operations.
The general director of IDAC, Igor Rodríguez Durán, urged all people interested in operating drones to strictly comply with the provisions established in the Dominican Aeronautical Regulations (RAD 107), regulations that regulate the operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the national territory.
Rodríguez Durán explained that this measure responds to a request from the organizers of the Games and is part of the security device designed to preserve order and prevent any incident that could compromise the development of the event.
The restriction covers all official competition venues of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, including the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, Parque del Este, as well as the sports facilities located in Greater Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, Baní, San Cristóbal, Bonao, Santiago, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana, where different disciplines of the event will be held.
The IDAC reminds that any drone operation in these areas must have the corresponding authorization from the aeronautical authority and coordination with the organizations responsible for the security of the Games.
Likewise, he reported that the IDAC works in coordination with the security agencies responsible for the Central American and Caribbean Games to identify and act against any drone operation that is carried out without proper authorization.
The institution recalled that the improper use of drones in restricted areas constitutes a violation of current aeronautical regulations and may give rise to administrative sanctions, in addition to the corresponding actions in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The IDAC reiterated its call for citizen collaboration to contribute to the success of this important international sporting event, respecting the established restrictions and operating drones only when the corresponding authorizations are available.

La institución recordó queel uso indebido de drones en zonas restringidas constituye una violación a la normativa aeronáutica vigentey puede dar lugar a sanciones administrativas, además de las acciones que correspondan conforme a la legislación aplicable. El IDAC reiteró su llamado a lacolaboración de la ciudadaníapara contribuir al éxito de este importante evento deportivo internacional, respetando las restricciones establecidas y operando drones únicamente cuando se cuente con las autorizaciones correspondientes.
