Damascus, July 23 (SANA)Units of the Syrian Arab Army’s Border Guard Forces have foiled several attempts in recent days to smugglenarcoticsfrom Lebanese territory into Syria in the countryside of Homs and Damascus.

The Ministry of Defense’s Media and Communication Directorate told SANA Thursday that the operations resulted in the seizure of more than 40 kilograms of hashish and over 700,000 Captagon pills.

The operations follow ongoing efforts by Syrian authorities to combat drug trafficking and secure the country’s borders. Earlier this month, the Drug EnforcementDepartment, in coordination with the Internal Security Command in Damascus Countryside, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotics from Lebanese territory toward the farms of al-Nabek after extensive surveillance and security monitoring.
