Presidente Peña presidió la conmemoración del Día del Ejército Paraguayo
The Head of State was accompanied by the Minister of National Defense, Óscar González; the commander of the Military Forces, César Moreno; and the commander of the Paraguayan Army, Manuel Rodríguez Sosa, as well as high civil, military and ecclesiastical authorities.
Tribute to the history and legacy of the Paraguayan Army
During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the memory of Marshal Francisco Solano López, highlighting his leadership, patriotism and commitment to the defense of national sovereignty. Likewise, the legacy of generations of men and women who joined the ranks of the Paraguayan Army was remembered, reaffirming the values of honor, discipline, bravery, loyalty and service to the Homeland that have accompanied the institution since the origins of the Republic.
In this context, it was highlighted that the Paraguayan Army constitutes a fundamental pillar of national defense and maintains its permanent commitment to security, cooperation with citizens and preparation to respond to the challenges facing the country.
Recognition of international cooperation
Within the framework of the event, the President of the Republic, in his capacity as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Nation, awarded the Order of Merit of the Army "Marshal José Félix Estigarribia", in the rank of Grand Cross, Lieutenant General Óscar Santiago Sarich, chief of the General Staff of the Army of the Argentine Republic; Army General Osvaldo Martín Callejo Talledo, General Commander of the Army of the Republic of Peru; and Division General Héctor Alejandro Alarcón Antezana, general commander of the Army of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
The distinction was awarded in recognition of their outstanding professional careers and their contribution to strengthening cooperation between their respective armies and the Paraguayan Army, reaffirming the links of integration and joint work between the military forces of the region.
Institutional strengthening and preparation for new challenges
During the ceremony, the commander of the Paraguayan Army highlighted the institutional strengthening process that promotes the land force through the modernization of its capabilities, the permanent training of its human resources and cooperation with allied countries to respond to current challenges in defense and security.
In this framework, he valued the support provided by the Government of Paraguay to strengthen the Army, as well as the initiatives aimed at consolidating an institution increasingly prepared to fulfill its constitutional mission and contribute to peace, security and national development.
The commemoration concluded with the imposition of decorations, the recognition of foreign military authorities and the reaffirmation of the commitment of the Paraguayan Army to the defense of the Republic, the preservation of national sovereignty and permanent service to all Paraguayans.

Fortalecimiento institucional y preparación para los nuevos desafíos Durante la ceremonia, el comandante del Ejército Paraguayo destacó el proceso de fortalecimiento institucional que impulsa la fuerza terrestre mediante la modernización de sus capacidades, la formación permanente de sus recursos humanos y la cooperación con países aliados para responder a los desafíos actuales en materia de defensa y seguridad. En ese marco, valoró el respaldo brindado por el Gobierno del Paraguay al fortalecimiento del Ejército, así como las iniciativas orientadas a consolidar una institución cada vez más preparada para cumplir su misión constitucional y contribuir a la paz, la seguridad y el desarrollo nacional. La conmemoración concluyó con la imposición de las condecoraciones, el reconocimiento a autoridades militares extranjeras y la reafirmación del compromiso del Ejército Paraguayo con la defensa de la República, la preservación de la soberanía nacional y el servicio permanente a todos los paraguayos.
