Non-Resident High Commissioner of Canada presents credentials to the President23 July 2026
Non-Resident High Commissioner of Canada to the Maldives, Her Excellency Isabelle Marie Catherine Martin, presented her Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The High Commissioner was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed Her Excellency Isabelle Marie Catherine Martin as the High Commissioner of Canada.
Following the ceremony, the President and the High Commissioner held discussions on areas of mutual interest, including climate change adaptation, seaplane cooperation, women and youth empowerment, and gender equality. In concluding, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Canada were established on 14 December 1981.
