Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Maldives, His Excellency Dr Robert Zischg, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.

The Ambassador was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed His Excellency Dr Robert Zischg as the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria.

Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador held discussions on areas of mutual interest, including tourism, multilateral cooperation, climate action, fisheries cooperation, and scholarship opportunities in diplomatic training.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Republic of Austria were established on 1 March 1978.
