Syrian U-17 girls’ football team reaches West Asian Championship semifinals
Amman, July 22 (SANA)– Syria’s U-17girls’ national footballteam advanced to the semifinals of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship after defeating Lebanon 1-0 on Tuesday in their final Group A match at Prince Mohammed Stadium inZarqa, Jordanin the third and final round of Group A matches.
Bayan Jomaa Attoscored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute, securing Syria’s third consecutive victory and top spot in the group with a perfect nine points.
Syria opened its campaign with a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia before recording an emphatic 8-0 victory against the United Arab Emirates.
They completed the group stage by defeating runners-up Lebanon 1-0, without conceding a goal in any of their three matches.
Thevictory lifted Syria to nine pointsat the top of Group A, setting up a semifinal meeting with the runners-up of Group B.
