The new structure will help streamline traffic, improve road safety, reduce congestion, and shorten travel time between Tashkent and Nurafshan by 10-15 minutes.
The project, implemented on a 14.1-hectare site at the border of Bektemir and Urtachirchik districts, cost 240 billion UZS. It included a 66-meter-long, 46-meter-wide bridge, a 450-meter-long road tunnel, two U-turn lanes, four underground pedestrian crossings, and a 950-meter loop exit ramp. In addition, 9.5 kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths were laid, eight public transport stops were equipped, 240 outdoor lighting poles were installed, and 6 kilometers of road barriers were erected.
With the commissioning of the new facility, the traffic capacity of this section will increase severalfold to 130,000 vehicles per day. This will improve transportation links between Tashkent and Tashkent region, reduce congestion, and make travel more convenient for residents.
The President was also briefed on the project’s technical solutions, traffic management capabilities, and plans to introduce a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system along the Tashkent – Nurafshan route.
