Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Holds Phone Talks with German Chancellor •••••••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi held phone talks today, Wednesday, with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The discussions focused on bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen cooperation across various fields and sectors, particularly in the areas of the economy, trade, investment, as well as cooperation on migration issues. The Prime Minister expressed Iraq’s desire to expand economic cooperation and encourage German companies to invest in Iraq. He also highlighted the government’s efforts to establish a joint Iraqi-German fund to finance projects aimed at developing Iraq’s industrial sector. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combating corruption in all its forms and making Iraq an open and attractive investment destination as part of efforts to diversify the country’s economy. He stressed that Germany is an important economic partner and continues to support Iraq. For his part, Chancellor Merz expressed Germany’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Iraq across various fields. He extended an official invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Germany and reaffirmed his country’s support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to advance economic and financial reforms.
