Amsterdam, July 22 (SANA)– TheDutch governmentannounced on Tuesday that it plans to ban imports of products originating fromIsraeli settlementsin the occupied Palestinian territories, effective September 22.

Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoted the Dutch Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that “through the proposed measures, theNetherlandsis reinforcing its commitment to fulfilling its international legal obligation not to contribute to the continuation of this unlawful situation.”

Dutch Foreign Ministry  noted that the ban would cover “the import, purchase and sale of products originating from illegal Israeli settlements in thePalestinian territories.”

The Netherlands will thereby join otherEuropean Union countries, including Ireland, Belgium and Spain, that have imposed restrictions on trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
