Gobierno presenta acciones para garantizar la movilidad en los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe Santo Domingo 2026
Santo Domingo.– In an inter-institutional meeting held this Tuesday, the coordinator of the Transportation Cabinet, Deligne Ascención, presented the actions that will be implemented to guarantee mobility during the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, through coordinated work between the institutions responsible for transit, transportation and road infrastructure.
The provisions, which will be in force from July 24 to August 8, include traffic management measures, strengthening public transportation, mobility monitoring, logistics for the transfer of sports delegations and adaptation of urban infrastructure, with the purpose of facilitating access to the different competition venues and reducing the impact on circulation.
As the host city of the Games, the Mayor's Office of the National District reported that it was responsible for the conditioning of the Sports Boardwalk, as well as the renovation and beautification of the main roads, sidewalks and curbs, with the support of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
In its capacity as the governing body of mobility, land transportation, traffic and road safety, the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (Intrant) coordinates the mobility strategy that will be executed during the Games and will maintain permanent monitoring of circulation through its Traffic Control Center, guaranteeing the operation of the traffic light network on the routes with the highest demand.
Likewise, he reported that the units of the TRAE program, intended for the transfer of athletes and delegations, will use some tunnels and elevated areas of the express corridors of Santo Domingo and Santiago on a scheduled basis to speed up travel between the different sports venues. These routes will be escorted by the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Security (Digesett) and will be monitored in real time from the TRAE Control Center.
As part of the mobility device, Digesett will reinforce traffic regulation and guidance for drivers and pedestrians at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center and other sports venues. In addition to facilitating the circulation of athletes, delegations and spectators, the agents will provide assistance to citizens and ensure compliance with the provisions established during the event.
These measures include the prohibition of parking in the vicinity of the Olympic Center. To guarantee free vehicular flow, the institution will have the support of the Parquéate RD cranes, while the boarding and disembarking of passengers will only be allowed in the accesses enabled by Ortega y Gasset, 27 de Febrero and John F. Kennedy avenues.
Regarding public transportation, the Metropolitan Transportation Company reported that the Santo Domingo Metro will offer free access to athletes, volunteers and accredited collaborators, who will only have to present their official badge between July 24 and August 8.
In addition, the Central American and Caribbean Games Metro Card will be available, with a cost of RD 100 that includes 14 trips, one for each day of competitions. Likewise, users who enter the system through the Casandra Damirón and Joaquín Balaguer stations will be able to access the Metro for free during that same period.
For its part, the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA) will be integrated into the transportation logistics of the sports delegations and will offer free service in all its corridors from noon on July 24 to August 8, in addition to enabling special routes to the main competition venues.
The plan also contemplates special circulation patterns during the opening of the Games; promoting the use of public transportation to attend competitions; temporary restrictions on work on public roads and loading and unloading operations in the areas of influence of sports venues; as well as the application of the provisions of the Restricted Access Zone (ZAR) for cargo vehicles.
Information on closures and detours will be disseminated in a timely manner through the official channels of the participating institutions and digital navigation platforms.
The Transportation Cabinet urged citizens to plan their trips, preferably use public transportation and follow the guidelines of the authorities to contribute to the safe and successful development of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

Como ciudad anfitriona de los Juegos,la Alcaldía del Distrito Nacionalinformó que tuvo bajo su responsabilidad elacondicionamiento del Malecón Deportivo, así como elremozamiento y embellecimiento de las principales vías, aceras y contenes, con el respaldo del Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones(MOPC). En su condición de órgano rector de la movilidad, el transporte terrestre, el tránsito y la seguridad vial, el Instituto Nacional de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre(Intrant)coordina laestrategia de movilidad que será ejecutada durante los Juegosy mantendrá elmonitoreo permanentede la circulación a través de su Centro de Control de Tráfico, garantizando laoperación de la red semafórica en las rutas de mayor demanda. Asimismo, informó que lasunidades del programa TRAE, destinadas al traslado de atletas y delegaciones,utilizarán de manera programada algunos túneles y elevadosde los corredores expresos de Santo Domingo y Santiago para agilizar los desplazamientos entre las distintas sedes deportivas. Estos recorridos estarán escoltados por la Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre(Digesett)y serán monitoreados en tiempo real desde el Centro de Control de TRAE. Como parte del dispositivo de movilidad, la Digesett reforzará laregulación del tránsito y la orientación a conductores y peatones en el Centro Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte y demás escenarios deportivos. Además de facilitar la circulación de atletas, delegaciones y espectadores, los agentes brindaránasistencia a la ciudadaníay velarán por elcumplimiento de las disposiciones establecidasdurante el evento. Entre estas medidas se incluye laprohibición de estacionamientoen el entorno del Centro Olímpico. Para garantizar el libre flujo vehicular, la institución contará con el apoyo de lasgrúas de Parquéate RD,mientras que el ascenso y descenso depasajerossolo estará permitido en losaccesoshabilitados por lasavenidas Ortega y Gasset, 27 de Febrero y John F. Kennedy. En cuanto al transporte público, la Empresa Metropolitana de Transporte informó queel Metro de Santo Domingo ofrecerá acceso gratuito a atletas, voluntarios y colaboradores acreditados, quienes únicamente deberán presentar su gafete oficialentre el 24 de julio y el 8 de agosto. Las informaciones sobrecierres y desvíosserán difundidas oportunamente a través de los canales oficiales de las instituciones participantes y de las plataformas digitales de navegación. El Gabinete de Transporteexhortó a la ciudadanía a planificar sus desplazamientos, utilizar preferiblemente el transporte público y atender las orientaciones de las autoridades para contribuir aldesarrollo seguro y exitoso de los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe Santo Domingo 2026.
