Ministro Joel Santos: RD registra nueva demanda histórica de electricidad con 4,185.11 MW
Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, reported that the National Interconnected Electrical System (SENI) registered last night a new record of maximum instantaneous demand, reaching 4,185.11 megawatts (MW), at 10:11 p.m., a behavior that, he stated, reflects the sustained growth of electricity consumption in the country and the system's ability to respond in a stable and reliable manner.
He explained that this trend will continue throughout the summer and that demand could be satisfied thanks to the fact that the country has an installed capacity for resilient and diversified generation.
Santos stated that this new milestone confirms the importance of the alliance between the public and private sectors to strengthen the national electricity system, as part of the transformation that the sector is experiencing thanks to investments in generation, transmission and distribution, as well as the diversification strategy of the energy matrix promoted by the Government.
He pointed out that the system responded stably to the new peak in demand thanks to the investments made in recent years to expand the energy supply, incorporate new generation plants that strengthen the reliability and operational flexibility of the SENI.
The head of Energy and Mines indicated that the demand was met through a combination of generation sources that were essential to meet the high consumption recorded and maintain the stability of the system.
“This new record demonstrates that the country has a more robust, resilient and diversified electrical system, prepared to respond to the growth in demand and support national economic development,” he said.
The new historical maximum of 4,185.11 MW surpasses the previous mark of 4,166.52 MW, recorded on July 16 at 9:58 p.m., and confirms the trend of sustained growth in electricity consumption in the country.

Señaló que el sistema respondió de manera estable al nuevo pico de demandagracias a las inversiones realizadas en los últimos añospara ampliar la oferta energética, incorporar nuevas centrales de generación que fortalecen la confiabilidad y la flexibilidad operativa del SENI. El titular de Energía y Minas indicó que la demanda fue atendida mediante unacombinación de fuentes de generaciónque resultaron esenciales para suplir el elevado consumo registrado y mantener la estabilidad del sistema. “Este nuevo récord demuestra que el país cuenta con un sistema eléctrico más robusto, resiliente y diversificado, preparado para responder al crecimiento de la demanda y respaldar el desarrollo económico nacional”,expresó.
