This programme, established in 1960, allows around 1,000 people from all over the EU and beyond to gain 5 months ofhands-on experience in EU policymaking and administrationtwice a year.

The internships are paid – expect around €1.538 per month in living allowance – and successful applicants get to work in a multicultural environment, develop professional skills, and gain insights into the operations of EU institutions.

There’sno age limit for applicants. You will need to have completed a standard3-year higher education degreeand be proficient inat least 2 EU official languages, one of which must be English, French or German. For the first time, the programme is nowopen to graduates of vocational education and training(VET) – so if you didn’t go to university, you may still be eligible.

To apply for an internship, you will first have to create anEU login accountand then submit acompleted application form and required supporting documents.

The internships start in March and October of each year. The next available traineeship you can register for isMarch-July 2027. You have until 4 September 2026 to submit your application.

Remember, the internships areopen to all EU citizens, and there are also alimited number of places for non-EU nationalsin specific EU departments.
