Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong announced changes to Cabinet and other political appointments, and the renaming of the Ministry of Trade and Industry on 22 July 2026.

The Prime Minister will make changes to Cabinet and other political appointments. TheAnnex [PDF, 140.88 KB]lists all the appointments, with the changes highlighted below. All appointments will be effective from 27 July 2026 unless otherwise stated in theAnnex.

Mr Jeffrey Siow, Mr David Neo, and Ms Sim Ann will be promoted to Ministers.

Ms Jasmin Lau and Mr Goh Pei Ming will be promoted to Senior Ministers of State.

Mr K Shanmugam will be appointed Senior Minister. He will continue as Coordinating Minister for National Security, and Minister for Home Affairs.

Dr Tan See Leng will be appointed Minister for Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry). He will relinquish his appointment as Minister for Manpower.

Mr Ng Chee Meng, the Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress, will be appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.

Mr Jeffrey Siow will be appointed Minister for Transport. He will also be appointed Second Minister for Finance.

Mr David Neo will be appointed Minister for Culture, Community and Youth. He will also be appointed Second Minister for Education.

Ms Sim Ann will be appointed Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Second Minister for Home Affairs.

Mr Zaqy Mohamad was earlier appointed Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs on 20 July. He will remain Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Defence, and relinquish his appointment in the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment.

Ms Jasmin Lau will be appointed Acting Minister for Manpower, and Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Digital Development and Information. She will relinquish her appointment in the Ministry of Education.

Mr Goh Pei Ming will be appointed Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

Mr Alvin Tan will be appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  He will remain Minister of State in the Ministry of National Development, and relinquish his appointment in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim will be appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He will remain Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relinquish his appointment in the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

Mr Foo Cexiang will be appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Manpower, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Mr Shawn Loh will be appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry will be renamed as the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry. The new name reflects its growing focus on energy matters, which are vital to Singapore’s economic competitiveness and future. The name change will take effect from 1 October 2026. Â
