22 July 2026President Mahama Receives Governor of Wisconsin State on Accra Visit
President John Dramani Mahama today welcomed Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin State, USA.
Governor Evers is in Accra with a business delegation to promote exports from Wisconsin and support the state’s key industries, businesses, workforce, and economy.
President Mahama spoke about economic reforms and rising investor interest in Ghana. He noted the recent completion of the IMF bailout programme and said Ghana is back on track and open for business.
He highlighted the 24-Hour Economy programme, designed to boost production, promote manufacturing and industrialisation, and create jobs.
He also disclosed that his government has established an Accelerated Export Development Advisory Committee to help transform Ghana into an export-driven economy.
President Mahama said Ghana wants to collaborate with Wisconsin in agriculture and is ready to explore other business opportunities with the state.
He also briefed the Governor and his delegation on policies to expand access to education and build the human resource capacity needed for Ghana’s development.
Governor Evers described the trade mission as critical, saying it aimed to build on global partnerships and position Wisconsin as a place where companies can grow.
