A key step in this direction was the adoption of the Presidential Resolution of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to improve the value-added tax refund system for foreign citizens”, of March 5 this year.

The document provides for the removal of several administrative barriers in the VAT refund system for foreign citizens, the expansion of its coverage, and the improvement of the quality of services provided.

Particular attention is being paid to the widespread promotion of the benefits of the tax-free system among foreign tourists.

According to the Hunarmand Association, as part of implementing the resolution, the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the Tax Committee, developed informational materials explaining the advantages of the tax-free system and the procedure for refunding value-added tax to foreign citizens.

To accommodate foreign visitors, the materials have been translated into five languages: Uzbek, English, Russian, Chinese, and Arabic.
