The event was attended by the leadership and senior officials of the Forestry Agency under the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, by Shi Guanghui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and by industry experts.
The parties discussed measures to ensure environmental sustainability, including preventing desertification, increasing green coverage, and implementing promising projects to establish new forests and restore existing ones.
The documentary film “Green Silk Road: Restoring Sandy Deserts” was screened, offering a detailed overview of efforts to ensure environmental sustainability and of the reforms implemented under the Three-North Shelterbelt Program.
The parties exchanged views on cooperation to prevent desertification, restore degraded land, and advance scientific research and innovative technologies.
During the international conference “China–Central Asia cooperation in combating desertification” in the Chinese city of Yinchuan, a delegation from the Forestry Agency signed two important agreements with Chinese partners to combat desertification. The latest agreement provides for the implementation of several projects in desert areas, with the project’s scope to be expanded if the pilot proves successful.
