ТуризмWhat is driving the growing popularity of Uzbekistan among tourists?10:07 / 22.07.2026
The company reports that in June 2026, online searches for travel to Uzbekistan rose by 54 percent compared to the same month the previous year. This indicates a rapid increase in interest in the country, both regionally and globally.
Most importantly, this interest is turning into actual travel. Bookings via the Expedia platform increased by nearly 46 percent, and airline ticket sales grew by 23 percent. This indicates that users are not only looking for information about Uzbekistan but are also actively making travel plans to visit the country.
The United States and Japan saw the largest increases in interest. Additionally, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and the Republic of Korea also displayed rising interest in Uzbekistan.
Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara continue to be the top choices for foreign travelers. Meanwhile, interest in Khiva, another historic city, is increasing noticeably.
According to Expedia, 82.9 percent of confirmed bookings are for travel between July and September this year, indicating that the tourist season will be particularly active in the months ahead.
This growth naturally stems from the government’s tourism development policy. Recently, new international air routes have been introduced, visa processes have been simplified, and there has been a marked increase in efforts to showcase the country’s tourism potential at international exhibitions and specialized forums. Additionally, Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage has received widespread international acknowledgment.
Today, Uzbekistan is seen not only as the heart of the Great Silk Road but also as a modern, safe, and hospitable country with well-developed tourism infrastructure and extensive travel opportunities.
Under these circumstances, improving tourism service quality, developing new tourism products, and enhancing service standards remain key priorities.
