Capitals , July 22 (SANA) Twofirefighterswere killed inFrancewhile battling a forest blaze that broke out near an airport in the Gironde region in the country’s southwest, as emergency teams in both France andSpaincontinue to fight escalating wildfires driven by an intense heatwave sweeping across Europe.

Reuters quoted French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez as saying that the incident occurred on Tuesday in an area placed under maximum alert for wildfire risk, following the death of another firefighter two weeks ago in the Savoie region of the French Alps.

In Spain, a massive wildfire has been burning for the sixth consecutive day in the Guadalajara Valley in the country’s center, forcing authorities to evacuate more than 1,200 people as temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius.

Experts attribute the repeated suffocating heatwaves, expanding forest fires, and worsening drought across Europe to rapidly accelerating climate change and its severe environmental.
