HE The President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, headed a technical coordination table this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Regional Presidential Delegation of Atacama, in the city of Copiapó, with the objective of evaluating the situation derived from the frontal system that affects the area and coordinating response actions. On the tour of the Atacama Region, the Head of State is accompanied by the Minister of Health, May Chomalí; the Minister of National Defense, Fernando Barros; and the Undersecretary of Social Development, Alejandro Fernández. Meanwhile, the regional governor of Atacama, Miguel Vargas, participated in the technical table; the regional presidential delegate, Sofía Cid; and the mayors of different communes in the region. Likewise, the mayor of Vallenar, Víctor Isla, connected electronically to report on the difficult situation in his commune. During the meeting, the President conveyed to the councilors the Government's commitment to the response to the emergency, pointing out that "we have proposed to the different mayors that the resources will be available, that measures will be taken to recover connectivity and to give security to citizens." After the meeting, the President of the Republic gave a summary to the media about the effects that the rains have caused in the region and the measures that are being implemented to face the emergency. In this context, he maintained that "the main task is to recover connectivity to be able to go to the aid of those compatriots who are isolated. Connectivity is essential to be able to arrive with the help of food and drinking water, which is a complex situation experienced in Freirina and El Huasco." Previously, the President toured different affected sectors in the Atacama Region to verify on the ground the impact of the frontal system and supervise the deployment of authorities and emergency teams.
