Santo Domingo Norte contará por primera vez con un mercado municipal gracias al Mivhed
Santo Domingo Norte.– The Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, began this Tuesday the construction of the first municipal market in Santo Domingo Norte, with an investment of RD 87.7 million.
This infrastructure will have 82 sales positions distributed on two levels, with the aim of strengthening the marketing of products and improving conditions for merchants and consumers.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister Bisonó stated that markets represent much more than product sales centers, highlighting that they constitute spaces where the economy of the sectors is energized and the livelihood of thousands of families is strengthened.
"This has a special value because we are starting the construction of the first market in Santo Domingo Norte. A long-awaited work that responds to the growth of this municipality and the need to provide it with a commercial infrastructure at the level of the dynamism of its people," said the head of the Mivhed.
The project has a market area of 1,445.84 square meters of construction on a land area of 2,686.83 square meters and will house 54 sales positions on the first level, in addition to five stores for skirt shops, a fishmonger, and a butcher shop. Another 28 trading positions will operate on the second level.
The infrastructure includes parking, a dining room, administrative offices, stairs, gardens, sidewalks and curbs, as well as bathrooms for women, men and people with disabilities.
It will also have fire detection systems, electrical and sanitary installations, as well as air conditioning in the office areas.
The municipal market seeks to provide the municipality with a modern space for the organized sale of food and other products, with better conditions of safety, hygiene and services for merchants and users.
Minister Ito Bisonó was accompanied by the governor of the Santo Domingo province, Lucrecia Santana; the mayor of Santo Domingo Norte, Betty Gerónimo; the director of the National Institute for Price Stabilization (Inespre), Isidro Torres; the president of CQ Construcciones and construction engineer, Eduardo Castro; councilors, presidents of neighborhood associations, community leaders, and merchants.

Una obra largamente esperada que responde al crecimiento de este municipio y a la necesidad de dotarlo de una infraestructura comercial a la altura del dinamismo de su gente”,dijo el titular del Mivhed. El proyecto dispone de un área de mercado de1,445.84 metros cuadrados de construcciónsobre un terreno de 2,686.83 metros cuadrados y albergará 54 posiciones de venta en el primer nivel, además de cinco locales destinados a polleras, pescadería y carnicería. En el segundo nivel funcionarán otras 28 posiciones comerciales. La infraestructura incorpora parqueos, comedor, oficinas administrativas, escaleras, jardines, aceras y bordillos, así como baños para damas, caballeros y personas con discapacidad. También contará con sistemas de detección de incendios, instalaciones eléctricas y sanitarias, además de climatización en las áreas de oficina. El mercado municipal busca dotar al municipio de unespacio moderno para la venta organizada de alimentos y otros productos, con mejores condiciones de seguridad, higiene y servicios para comerciantes y usuarios. Acompañaron al ministro Ito Bisonó la gobernadora de la provincia Santo Domingo,Lucrecia Santana; la alcaldesa de Santo Domingo Norte,Betty Gerónimo; el director del Instituto Nacional de Estabilización de Precios (Inespre),Isidro Torres; el presidente de CQ Construcciones e ingeniero de la obra,Eduardo Castro; regidores, presidentes de juntas de vecinos, líderes comunitarios, y comerciantes.
