The conference focused on the history and resurgence of far-left political terrorism.

During the debate, State Secretary Stanislav Raščan outlined Slovenia’s and the EU’s awareness of terrorist threats, as well as their key approaches to prevention and response. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in effectively addressing security challenges.

He also used his visit to the US to strengthen the political dialogue between Slovenia and the US, as well as bilateral and transatlantic relations. During his meetings at the US State Department, he expressed interest in deepening cooperation between Slovenia and the US, emphasising the importance of close coordination among allies in addressing modern security challenges. Furthermore, he presented the foreign policy priorities of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

During his visit, State Secretary Raščan met with representatives of several prominent Washington think tanks, including the Atlantic Council, the Heritage Foundation, the Hudson Institute, the Brookings Institution and the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA). He also met with representatives of the National War College. The discussions focused on current geopolitical trends, the future of the transatlantic partnership and Slovenia's role as a credible ally and an active EU and NATO member. The State Secretary emphasised that strong transatlantic relations are a key pillar of Slovenian foreign and security policy and make a significant contribution to the stability, security and economic development of both partners.
