A child and young man injured in Israeli fire in Yarmouk area, Daraa

Daraa, July 21 (SANA)A child and a young man were injured on Monday as Israeli occupation forces fired on a group of civilians in of Jamla town in Yarmouk area, westernDaraacountryside.

The injured young man, Issa Mohammad, told SANA thatIsraeli forcesfired at a number of civilians while theirincursioninto Jamla town after residents attempted to prevent them from advancing further, as sustained a gunshot wound to the foot, while a child was also shot in the foot, causing a bone fracture.

An Israeli occupation force comprising six military vehicles advanced toward Jamla town and set up a checkpoint north of it, amid heightened tension among residents, who blocked the road with stones in an attempt to halt the advance, according to SANA reporter.

The incursion followed an Israeli force comprising two military vehicles entered Wadi al-Ruqqad area and later withdrew.

Israel continues to violate the1974 Disengagement Agreementthrough repeated incursions into southern Syria and attacks on civilians.

Syria has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli occupation from its territory, stressing that all measures taken by the occupation have no legal effect under international law. It has also called on international community to assume its responsibilities and compel Israel to withdraw fully from southern Syria.
