Doctors without borders warns of Israeli violations against Palestinian health workers

Geneva 21 July (SANA)-Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has warned of Israeli occupation practices against Palestinian health workers, including arbitrary arrest, torture, and assault, amid what it described as the international community’s failure to condemn these violations.

AFP reported on Tuesday that the organization called for the immediate release of allPalestinian health workersarbitrarily detained by Israeli occupation forces.

In a statement, MSF expressed its outrage at the treatment of health workers, noting that most are being held in deplorable conditions without justification or cause.

The organization reiterated its call for the immediate release of all arbitrarily detained medical personnel, stressing the need to provide them with appropriate medical care and ensure detention conditions that preserve their dignity.

MSF indicated that 15 of its staff members have been killed since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

The organization emphasized that the health system inthe Gaza Stripis far from recovery, given the continued Israeli restrictions on the entry of medical equipment and rehabilitation materials, the immense pressure on existing health facilities, and the ongoing violations against Palestinian medical personnel.

The organization’s statement comes after a UN investigation team and several human rights experts expressed serious concerns about the conditions of Palestinian healthcare workers detained by the Israeli occupation.

It is worth noting thatthe Palestinian Ministry of Healthwarned last June of the rapidly worsening crisis of shortages in medicines, pharmaceutical and laboratory supplies, and medical equipment in the occupied Palestinian territories, due to the siege imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities. The Ministry explained that more than a third of the essential medicines on the list had run out.
