His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and His Excellency Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, Prime Minister of the sisterly Republic of Iraq, held an official session of talks at Lusail Palace this morning. At the beginning of the session, His Highness the Emir welcomed the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, wishing the fraternal relations between the two countries further development and growth in various fields. For his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister expressed his condolences and sympathy to His Highness the Emir on the death of the late His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani asked God Almighty to bless him with His mercy and dwell him in His spacious paradise. He also expressed his thanks to His Highness the Emir for the good reception, hoping that the Prime Minister’s visit would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries to broader horizons. During the session, bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields were discussed, in addition to discussing the most prominent regional and international issues and developments, especially developments in the situation in the region, where The two sides stressed the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and implement what was agreed upon within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and enhancing regional stability. The session was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Head of the Emiri Diwan, and His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
